The program meets one Saturday a month from January through June starting at 10am, and ending at 4pm. For the early birds – we have morning yoga and free breakfast atrting at 9:00am. You must be able to do all six sessions in order to be selected. The Saturday Sessions: Over 100 girls from over 80 NYC Schools from all 5 boroughs will be selected to be WET RISK TAKERS for the 2010 season. Each session will begin by watching a film about a brave woman or girl. Some movies will be brand new - you may be among the first audiences to see the films - and some movies will be classics - so good they are worth seeing again!

After watching the movie, you will be divided into small groups with mentors to discuss the film and how it relates to your life while eating a FREE lunch. After an hour, you will reconvene with the entire group of girls in the screening room where one or more of the celebrated guests from the film will join you in a large group discussion. The celebrated guests are female actors, writers, producers and directors who are empowered risk takers themselves. They will answer your questions and share their own experiences, including the challenges and joys of following their dreams and making them a reality. Past guests have included actors: Mary-Louise Parker, Nicole Ari Parker, Olympia Dukakis, Kerry Washington, Frances McDormand, Tracie Thoms, Ally Sheedy, Audra McDonald, Lili Taylor, Alison Lohman, Judy Marte, and filmmakers: Nicole Holofcener, Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith, Jessica Sharzer, Maria Maggenti, Kate Lanier and Gina Prince-Bythewood.

The sixth session is WET’s RISK TAKERS HEALTH FAIR, a fabulous day of workshops in public speaking, self-defense, yoga, and more. Plus we will have a list of jobs and internships researched and made available only to girls in the Risk Takers 2010 class.

Additionally, throughout the six months, you will participate in free enrichment activities with your mentors and small groups, which relate to the discussions from the Saturday sessions.
